Nelson Leafs depot — or stop by our shop first
Nelson runs community electronics recycling through the Nelson Leafs depot. That is a great final destination for devices that are truly done — but if your old laptop, phone, or tablet still holds photos, tax files, or passwords, bring it to The Repair Factory at 507 Vernon Street first.
We are local, we know what is still worth saving, and we treat your data like it matters — because it does.
Secure wipe before destruction
Deleting files or “resetting” a phone is not enough for banking apps, saved passwords, and family photos. Before anything is scrapped or forwarded for metal recovery, we securely wipe storage so personal data is not leaked or compromised.
You get a shop that documents what came in, what was wiped, and what moved on — not an anonymous bin where drives might still spin.
Recover files to new media
Not ready to lose those pictures or documents? We can copy recoverable data to new media — a USB stick, external drive, or cloud account you control — so you keep the memories and files before the hardware is recycled.
Dead screen but good drive? Phone that will not boot but might still have photos? Tell us in the form above and we will quote recovery before anything is destroyed.
Cash for parts & trade-in value
Some machines are beyond repair as a whole but still have valuable parts — RAM, SSDs, screens, batteries, or whole boards another device needs. In those cases we may offer cash for parts or trade-in credit toward a repair or refurb.
Every device is different. List what you have (with years) in the form above and we will reply with drop-off options and whether trade-in applies.
